Active School Travel

Active School Travel at Belmont commences Tuesday 7 March. We are asking everyone to really think about how they travel to school as we launch Active Travel Tuesday as part of our Active School Travel program.
All students will receive an Active School Travel passport. Students who actively travel to school on Tuesdays will collect stamps and earn lots of great rewards this year. We know that everyone is different, so there are lots of ways you can actively travel to school.  How will you actively travel to school?
• Walk: leave the car at home and walk your children to school. If you live too far away, drive part of the way and walk the rest – this is known as “Park and Stride”.
• Cycle or Scooter: ride with your children to school. It is legal to ride on the footpath and remember to always have your helmet secured.
• Public Transport: public transport is easy once you know how.  For bus, train and ferry timetables phone 13 12 30 or visit
• Carpool: find a friend and carpool to school. It is an easy way to save money and time. Talk to other parents in your child’s class – or at music, sport, assembly or other activities – to see who is going your way.
Whichever you chose, be sure to join in next Tuesday 7 March as we undertake our first Active Travel Tuesday! Remember too that EVERY Tuesday will then be an Active Travel Tuesday.
